During a residency at Royal Brompton Hospital I met patients with cystic fibrosis. They had to deal with being connected to so many lines and tubes, primarily supplying oxygen. I made paper articulated figures in situations playfully connected with gases and air. Backlit photos of these images were printed onto acrylic panels and installed on the Victorian staircase leading to the ward.
I also developed a live shadow show called Life Lines, assisted by Zsuza Kohan with music by Victoria Hume.
Funded by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chealsea.
Unfolding Exercise was a project I developed exploring peoples relationship with exercise. I met with cardiac rehabilitation patients and staff at Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals. We created backlit portraits exploring the history of exercise and people's personal histories. I also developed a Mini Shadow Theatre kit and took it patients on the wards to explore.
